PARTS AND FUNCTIONS OF THE ANALOG POLYGRAPH

I OVERVIEW
The Analog Polygraph is composed of different parts which have specific functions. It
should also be emphasized that the parts of the Polygraph may slightly vary depending on the
model or manufacturer of the Polygraph instrument.
II OBJECTIVES
This activity aims to attain the following objectives:
1. To display familiarity with the parts of the Polygraph; and
2. To explain the functions of these parts.
III PROCEDURES
Below is an Ambassador Model, Lafayette made Polygraph. Name all its parts and give
their functions or uses.
Parts Functions
1. Pen Lifter Its function is to lift the lower pens to three different positions.
2. Program Pacer It's a question-and-answer pacing gadget with programmable cueing.
3. Paper Tear Bar It features a cutting edge for easy chart removal.
4. Foam Pen Hold-Down When the instrument is being transported, it maintains the pens in place.
5. Compartment It's where all of the forms and materials are kept. Executive Ultra Scribe is
slightly smaller.
6. Subject Connections The stylish arrangement gives the impression of being orderly and
professional. Setup and storage of facilities.
7. Mechanical Pneumo It's a portion of the Mechanical Pneumo Channel that records data.

8. Galvanic Skin Response It's the GSR channel's recording section.

9. Mechanical Cardio It's the mechanical cardio module's recording section.

10. Paper Storage It has two rolls of chart paper or other materials that can be stored within.

11. AC Power Receptacle It has a capacity of two rolls of chart paper or additional supplies.
12. Power Switch and It gives the instrument a boost of power. It's a built-in resettable circuit

13. Chart Drive Roller For paper changes and chart removal, it elevates the chart drive roller.

14. Power Analyzer For optimal instrument operation and subject safety, this feature
automatically checks if wall outlets are properly wired and grounded.
15. Stimulus Marker The chart, it denotes important events.
16. Sphygmomanometer The operational pressure of cardiac channels is measured.
Dial
17. Pneumo 1 The upper (thoracic) pneumograph has a pneumatic connection.
18. Pneumo 2 The lower (abdominal) pneumograph has a pneumatic connection.
19. Cuff It's a pneumatic connection for cardio channel cuff tubing.
20. Pump It's a pneumatic connection for inflating the subject cuff using a hand pump.
