Due to the outbreak of the deadly coronavirus .

India like other countries went under a lockdown and

schools were closed. After almost 2 years, the decision of reopening schools were taken. I had mixed
feelings of excitement, nervousness and joy when I got the news.

I was eagerly counting the days left for me to return to school. The night before I had arranged
everything I needed and I felt so anxious and also happy that I would finally meet my friends. The first
day at school was unusual and emotional for both students and teachers. All the standard safety
procedures were observed as we entered the school building.

During the morning assembly the Principal gave a welcome back speech and reminded us about the
precautions we needed to take. Afterwards, we went straight to our new classrooms. The class teacher
assigned us to our seats and strict social distancing were followed. We had to wear a mask, which is
physically harder due to the strained breathing but still the entire day was very fun. We interacted with
the teachers and shared opinions about different subjects.

I had so much fun during break with my friends, we shared our different experiences and although we
stayed in touch online. Talking face to face felt better. Both parents and children are happy to be back at
school, and do not wish to return to distance learning.
