OBJECTIVE The purpose of this report is to study and describe the motion, with its effect on
velocity, acceleration and force acting upon it. Our objective is to understand both the
phenomenon of how a particle moves and its principles through experimental data as
well as theoretical analysis. Furthermore, this paper also intends to explore the links
between forces applied and motion achieved; in doing so it illuminates some basic
theories of particle dynamics.

ACTIVITY In this experimental investigation of the dynamics of particles, we tried to apply

second law to examine the relation-ship between force, mass and acceleration,
calculating how forces affect movement on a bicycle. The forces calculated coincided
with the predicted outcomes in confirmation of the law. A person pushing against a
wall was provided as an example of Newton's third law. When pressure is applied to
one, the other side reacts with equal and opposite force. This hands-on activity provided
practical experience in applying Newton's laws to the dynamics of particles,
complementing theoretical content introduced earlier.

SUMMARY The principles of Newtonian mechanics were used in these experimental investigations
into the dynamics of particles. Embodying the concept of inertia, Newton's first law
was discovered when a small ball remained at rest or in uniform motion unless acted
upon by an external force. The second activity looked at Newton's second law, which
states that the force applied to the bicycle is proportional to its mass and results in
acceleration according to F=ma. The formula allowed for the qualitative analysis of the
effect that various forces had on the bicycle's motion. Finally by looking at the equal
and opposite reactions that occur when a person bumps into a wall, we have an example
of Newton's third law: For every action there is an equal but opposite reaction. These
afforded participants not only actual experience of the behavior of particles, but they
also helped to illustrate and reinforce theoretical concepts in an application-oriented
way that went beyond Newton's laws of motion.
