Nowadays, families move to different countries for work.

Some people think that it has a

negative effect on children, while others disagree. Discuss both views and give your own
opinion.

In today’s world, people are becoming more concerned with the issue of settling in a
different country for work that brings major changes to children’s development.
Personally, I hold the belief that this tendency can have both merits and demerits.

On the one hand, there are a few drawbacks when children accompany their parents into a
new country. First, living in a foreign country makes them have trouble adjusting during
the initial period. Due to encountering unfamiliar customs and habits in the host country,
immigrant children are prone to experience unexpected culture shock. They are more
likely to suffer from psychological and behavioral disorders such as homesickness, the
sense of isolation, even depression, etc… Another noteworthy point is that if adopting the
new culture they are in is much easier for settle-down-oversea children, they will forget
their homeland. Since using the second language along with adopting a new culture in
long terms toward communicating and studying, it is possible to lose touch with their
conventional culture.

On the other hand, staying with the whole family in a foreign country could bring plenty
of advantages to children.
