My name is Maulida Aisyah Khairunnisa. I am from Surabaya, East Java.

have completed a bachelor's degree and master degree in the Biology Department, at Sepuluh
Nopember Institute of Technology with honor. During my undergraduate study, [ had been engaged
in a research project “Study on gelatin from Pangasius hypopthalamus which would later be useful in
pharmaceutical purposes such as capsule medicine, wound healing osteogenesis, and hydrogel for
tissue culture” and published as research article on AIP Publishing. I also interested for being
laboratory assistant as facilitator for junior students on animal development, animal systematic, and
animal structure. Moreover, I have participated in a one-semester exchange program in the
Biosentinel laboratory, at Chulalongkorn University. During the exchange program, I did my research
on Health assessment in Fejervarya limnocharis's liver as a biomarker of contamination. During my
master study, I taken several courses including Philosophy of Science and Research Methodology,
Tropical Biodiversity, Biochemistry and Biotechnology, Ecotoxicology, Cancer Biology, Secondary
Metabolites Of Animals, Genetics Engineering, Cell and Tissue Engineering, Physiology and
Development, and Cell and Molecular biology. Besides that, I also wrote a book on cancer and
animal secondary metabolites with the team. I also took thesis about investigation the correlation
between heavy metal contamination with the gene resistance of the human gut microbiome in
Kenjeran. Kenjeran is a sub-district that has a coastal area and a lot of industrial and trading activities
resulting in heavy metal pollution that has been found in the human body. I also had been engaged
in research about bacteriophage as biocontrol Staphylococcus aureus. I have been published paper
about Investigation of the Effect of Cosmetics on Skin Staphylococci: A Study Case in Surabaya. I am
very interested in medical development research especially with molecular biology.

I also studied teacher program for freshgraduate in Surabaya State of University. I try to improve my
pedagogy skill. For my work experience, I currently work as Master Teacher in Ruangguru for almost
3 years and being temporary teacher in SMAN 4 Surabaya.

I use to choose my research focus on bacteriophage because as we know, there are many diseases
caused by bacteria as pathogen. Nowadays, The World Health Organization (WHO) reports that
antibiotic resistance (AMR) is currently a leading cause of death worldwide. While bacteriophage
therapy has undergone clinical trials in Western countries, it remains less popular in Indonesia.
Scientists and clinicians need to embrace new innovations, collaborating openly to introduce
bacteriophage therapy as an alternative technology in addressing antibiotic resistance in Indonesia.

Teachers help students understand basic concepts before they reach advanced levels of education.

Choosing a career as a lecturer, despite potentially lower pay compared to some other professions,
often involves a combination of personal passion, intrinsic rewards, and a commitment to the
broader goals of education.
