c) Discussion on comparison the motion of the skater with and without friction
i. Friction set to none
The chosen is position 3 is take to measure the velocity and to prove the motion
with the friction set up to none. Based on diagram 1, using the simulation, the velocity
state from the point position 3 is 11.5 m/s

Diagram 1: fraction skater stops to point position 3 with none fraction

By using kinetic energy formula:

1
𝑘𝐸 = 𝑚𝑣 2
2
1
𝑘𝐸 = 2 (70)(11.5)2 = 4628.75 j

By using potential energy formula:

𝑝𝐸 = 𝑚𝑔ℎ
𝑝𝐸 = 70(9.81)(1) = 686.7 𝑗
ii. Friction set to middle
The point position 3 is take to measure the velocity and to prove the motion with
the friction set up to middle. Based on diagram 2, using the simulation, the velocity
state from the point position 3 is 10.7 m/s
Diagram 2: fraction skater stops to point position 3 with middle fraction

By using kinetic energy formula:

1
𝑘𝐸 = 2 (70)(10.7)2 = 4007.15 j

By using potential energy formula:

𝑝𝐸 = 70(9.81)(1) = 686.7 𝑗

iii. Friction set to lots

The point position 3 is take to measure the velocity and to prove the motion with
the friction set up to middle. Based on diagram 3, using the simulation, the velocity
state from the point position 3 is 10.3 m/s

Diagram 3: fraction skater stops to point position 3 with lots fraction

By using kinetic energy formula:

1
𝑘𝐸 = 2 (70)(10.3)2 = 3713.15 j

By using potential energy formula:

𝑝𝐸 = 70(9.81)(1) = 686.7 𝑗
Table 1: Comparison Energy result for none, middle, and lots friction

According to table, we can say that kinetic energy dropped as extra friction was applied
to the simulation. Reduced kinetic energy also resulted in a decrease in total energy.
This demonstrates how some of the system's energy is transformed into heat energy by
creating friction. It is impossible to return kinetic energy back to potential or kinetic
energy in a system once it has been transformed to heat. For potential energy remained
unchanged because of friction did not affect the energy. Thanks for this assignment we
understood the relationship between friction, energy and the velocity of an object that
moving
