In angiosperms, the seed is the final product of sexual reproduction. It is often

described as fertilized ovule. As seeds develop , the ovary develops into fruits,
Page 4 of 10
hence seeds remains enclosed within fruit. A seed typically consists of seed coat,
cotyledon and an embryo axis. Non-albuminous seeds have no residual
endosperm as it is completely consumed during embryonic development(e.g.,
Pea,groundnut). Albuminous seeds retain a part of endosperm as it is not
completely used up during embryonic development (e.g., wheat, maize, barley,
castor, sunflower).

Read the following passage and answer the following questions from (i) to (v):
The first menstruation is called menarche, that usually occurs between 12 and 15
years. In human females, menstruation is repeated at an average interval of about
28/29 days and is called the menstrual cycle. It is regulated by certain hormones, as
the pituitary gland is stimulated by releasing factors produced in the hypothalamus.
The hormones produced by the pituitary gland influence the ovaries. The hormones
secreted by the ovaries affect the walls of the uterus.

b. Progesterone
c. LH
d. Both a and c

30. Read the following passage and answer the following questions from (i) to (v): 4

Blood groups are inherited from both parents. The ABO blood type is controlled
by a single gene (the ABO gene) with three types of alleles inferred from classical
genetics: i, IA, and IB. The IA allele gives type A, IBgives type B, and i gives type O.
As both IA and IBare dominant over i, only ii people have type O blood. Individuals
with IA IA or IAi have type A blood, and individuals with IB IBor IBi have type
B. IAIB people have both phenotypes, because A and B express a special
dominance relationship: Co-dominance, which means that type A and B parents
can have an AB child. A couple with type A and type B can also have a type O
child if they are both heterozygous (IBi, IA i). The ABO system was first discovered
in 1950s.

a. Father blood group A and mother is group B
b. Father blood group A and mother is group O
c. Father blood group B and mother is group O
d. Father blood group AB and mother is group B
