Dumlottee Pumping Station

Respected Sir,

This has reference to your valued inquiry as per above cited details.

After complete evaluation of the site and mutually agreed location of underground pump room
(adjacent to underground water tank for flooded pump suction), we are pleased to submit our
proposal for a slower running (1450 rpm) pump as per discussion with BTK’s team on following
pages.

It is worth stating here that our proposal consists of Double Suction Horizontal Split Case Pump
considering hydraulic requirement of 1000 USgpm at a pressure of 7 bar operating at 1450rpm.
Reason for opting split case pump over end suction is due to a wider deviation of duty point
from the best efficiency point (best efficiency point) – refer below image. If the duty point lies
farther away from BEP, it results in shorter mean time between failures (MTBF) due to
higher/unbalanced radial loads acting against the impeller.
Besides an end suction pump non-overloading power (NOL) is approximately 115kW as opposed
to 78kW for split case pump which will result in higher energy savings.

In view of the above, considering the life cycle cost of the pump, split case pump is a much-
preferred option and has been proposed for the subject requirement.

- The pumping system is being proposed equipped with variable speed drive system which gets
pressure feedback from the pressure transducer installed on discharge manifold of the pumping
system.
- Pressure set point can be fed into the drives and it will automatically modulate in order to
maintain the set point.
- The system can automatically wakeup on sensing loss in pressure and modulate to meet the set
point. If demand diminishes, it can automatically enter sleep mode and standby for detecting loss
in pressure.
- The VFDs can also be operated in manual mode to set frequency at user’s discretion.
