Title of Project:
Print & Go Services
Brief Discussion of the Problem / Issue :

We have observed and heard that students in Mahallah Aminah have problem with printing
services. Despite the fact that all printing shop is at the centre of IIUM and it was far away
from their Mahallah. Some students also had a transportation issue to go to the centre. Hence ,
students need to pay for a grab car and this issue will in cured a lot of cost for student to print
out their paper work . Besides, other initiatives are they need to take a long walk to get a
printing service.

Upon raising this issue with the Mahallah groups, we were informed that students also have a
problem whenever they want to print out an emergency task at late night. Which means, some
students need a printing service outside printing shop hours. In light of this situation, three of
us have taken the initiative to establish a printing service among students on our level to
address this issue. We hope to expand this effort can help other residents and improve our
facilities or services within our living quarters.

Location of the Problem/Issue: Mahallah Aminah , IIUM Gombak

Targeted Group/Community: Students who lived in Mahallah Aminah

Potential Solution(s) to the Problem / Issue:

We will collaborate with students who has printer in their room to offer the service. To extend
our efforts, we will advertise the service to all Mahallah Aminah’s residents. We will ensure

that each block in each building in Mahalah Aminah has at least one student who will become
our partner in order to easy and facilitate our service and allow the students to print off their
documents without having to go to the next building. We utilise WhatsApp and Telegram as
communication tools to provide all of the documents that students wish to print to our partner.

Furthermore, with Print & Go service, Mahallah Aminah’s residents only need to provide the
paperwork in PDF through WhatsApp or Telegram and our partner will notify them whether
their documents are complete and ready for pickup. To facilitate our services, we will advise
to our partner on the amount that they may charge other students in order to satisfy all the
parties. By doing so, we hope to gain acceptance and credit from the community.

Impact to the target group/community if implement your proposed solutions:

Our printing services are instrumental in upholding the issues of students in Mahallah Aminah.
It is important for students who have issues with printing. By having printing services, it can
be convenient for students. For instance, students staying at the hostel can easily print
important documents or their assignments without needing to find an external print shop or go
to a different location that is far away from their hostel, saving students' time, especially if
they are in an emergency or have a tight schedule.

In addition to the broader impact, our initiative resonates deeply with our Islamic faith, which
simplifies other people's work, which is cost-effective. External printing shops may charge
their customers higher prices for their services, especially if they are located in tourist-heavy
areas. Offering printing services in the hostel can potentially provide lower or more
competitive rates, saving students money.
