point (1 − 2i) and carrying the point i onto the point (3 + 4i).
2. Prove that every Mobius transformation w = T (z) with two distinct finite
fixed points α and β satisfies a relation
w−α z−α
=λ ,
w−β z−β
where λ is a constant. Further prove that T ′ (α)T ′ (β) = 1.
3. Show that
(i) every bilinear transformation w = T (z), which has only one fixed point
α can be put in the form

(ii) a bilinear transformation w = T (z), which has one finite fixed point α
and the other fixed point ∞ can be written as

4 Find the bilinear transformation which transforms the circular disk |z| ≤ r
onto the circular disk |w| ≤ r′ .
5. Show that the bilinear transformation w = 1+z 1−z
maps the region |z| ≤ 1 onto
the half plane Re(w) ≥ 0.
6. Prove that the relation w = 5−4z4z−2

(b) points 1, −1, ∞ onto 1 + i, 1 − i, 1 respectively
(c) points ∞, i, 0 onto 0, i, ∞ respectively.

(a) upper half plane onto the interior of the unit circle.

(c) the interior of circle with centre 1 + i and radius 3 onto the exterior of
circle with centre 2i and radius 2.

under the mapping w = z 3 + z if (i) z0 = i and (ii) z0 = 1 + i.
