Our school fair
Today, we’re having our school’s jobs fair. There is a scientist, a firefighter, a police
officer, a chef and a vet here. The scientist is teaching us how to do experiments.
She does the experiments quickly and easily, but they’re difficult for us! The
firefighter is wearing her uniform and she’s showing us how she rescues people. I
think her job is dangerous! The vet has got a dog and a cat with her. She’s very
patient with them. She says she loves helping sick animals. Her dog and cat are
lovely, and she talks about the problems dogs and cats sometimes have. The chef is
cooking a big cake for everybody. He’s making it slowly. He says it’s important to
mix it carefully. I’m sure we’re going to eat it quickly, because it’s a chocolate cake
and it looks delicious! The police officer is talking to us about walking to school
carefully. His helmet is big and we all want to wear it and take our photos!

Hi Anita,

I’m going to tell you about my city, New York. I love living in New York
because there are always exciting activities to do at the weekends. Last
Saturday, we went to a theatre on Broadway, and we had a fantastic time.
On Sunday, we saw my favourite football team, the New York Giants, at the
stadium. It was a great game! Then, we went to a restaurant, and I had a
burger. Of course, I don’t go to the theatre and a football match every
week! It was my birthday, so it was a special weekend.

And your visit is going to be a special weekend, too! I’d like to go to the ice
rink and to see the fish at the aquarium. There’s a great art gallery in my
street, too. We can go and see some famous paintings there. We can also
take a ferry on the Hudson River and go and see the Statue of Liberty. So,
there are lots of things to do! It’s easy and quick to travel around New York
on the metro, but you can’t see anything. You can see lots of things on the
bus, but it’s very slow, because there are lots of cars in New York and
yellow taxis!

Anyway, write and tell me what you want to do in New York!
