I gave back the book yesterday. What did you give


back? The book.

My boss called off the meeting. What did my boss call


off? The meeting.
INTRANSITIVE PHRASAL VERBS
They don't take an object.
For example:
I said hello and sat down.
The robber stole the money and ran away.
I live in Managua, but I grew up in Matagalpa.
She failed the midterm. She has to catch up.
