GUIDELINES FOR AIU AUDITIONS

MUSIC:
1. CLASSICAL INSTRUMENTAL SOLO (PERCUSSION – TAL VADYA)
 Dura on of performance should not exceed 4 minutes.
 Maximum number of accompanists is 2.
 Items can be presented in either Hindustani or Carna c style.

2. CLASSICAL INSTRUMENTAL SOLO (NON-PERCUSSION – SWAR VADYA)


 Dura on of performance should not exceed 5 minutes.
 Maximum number of accompanists is 2.
 Par cipants must bring their own instruments. Casio is not allowed.
 Instruments of Indian origin adopted to the Indian raga system are
allowed.
 Items can be presented in either Hindustani or Carna c style.

3. CLASSICAL VOCAL(SOLO)
 This is a solo event.
 Rendi on can be done in either Hindustani or Carna c Style.
 Film songs are not allowed under this category.
 Dura on of performance should not exceed 5 minutes.
 Accompaniments should be live.
 Maximum two live accompanists are allowed.
4. LIGHT CLASSICAL(SOLO)
 Dura on of the song should not exceed 4 minutes.
 Only non-film songs / geet/ ghazal / bhajan / shabad and abhangs can be
presented.
 Judgement will be made on the criteria like swara, taal, rendi on raga,
composi on, general impression etc.,.
 Accompanists should be live.
 The decision of the judges will be final.

5. WESTERN SONG(SOLO)
 Language of the song should only be English.
 Dura on of performance is 3-4 minutes
 Accompaniment should be live.
 Judgement will be made on criteria like composi on, rhythm,
pronuncia on overall presenta on etc.,.

6. WESTERN INSTRUMENTAL SOLO


 Dura on of performance should not exceed 4 minutes.
 Maximum number of accompanists is 2.
 A par cipant shall play western music on any percussion or non-
percussion instrument.
 The par cipant shall perform on any one genre/style or fuse various
genres/styles of western music.
7. Group Song (Indian) :
 Team Members will be selected from the audi ons of Indian Classical
Solo and Light Vocal Solo.
 Members may be modified Depending upon the needs.

8. Group Song (Western):


 Team Members will be selected from the audi ons of Western Vocal
Solo.
 Members may be modified Depending upon the needs.

DANCE:

1. Classical Dance Solo:


 The dance item should be purely classical.
 The classical dance can be from any of the approved schools of
dance. Such as Kathak, Kathakali, Bharat Natyam, Manipuri,
Kuchipudi, Mohiniya am, Odissi, Sa riya etc. (Preferably Sa riya
& Kathak)
 Dura on of performance should not exceed 4 mins.
 Dress - Any comfortable prac ce dress.
 Judgement will be focused on Abhinaya, Rhythm, Technique, Style,
Footwork, etc.
 Par cipants may perform on original track.
2. Folk/Tribal Dance (Group)
 Selec on will be done through solo performances.
 Par cipants may use track sound.
 Dura on of performance should not exceed 4 mins.
 Dress - Any comfortable prac ce dress.
 No modernisa on in music is allowed.
 Any Folk/Tribal Dance Form (Preferably Bihu or Bodo (Bardaishikla
/ Bagarumba))
Theatre:
1. One Act Play, Skit, Mime:
 Par cipants are required to perform a solo act.
 Time of act should not exceed 5 mins.
 Vulgarity or bi er insinua ons in presenta on should be avoided.
 Further audi on will be decided by the judges.
2. Mimicry:

 This is a solo event.


 Each par cipant shall be given 5 minutes.
 Judgement will be based on imita ng skill, variety of sound and
voices imitated, overall presenta on etc.,.
 No vulgar or unparliamentary language will be entertained.
