As a facilitator, you are expected to orient the learners on how to use this module.
You also need to keep track of the learners' progress while allowing them to
manage their own learning. Furthermore, you are expected to encourage and assist
the learners as they do the tasks included in the module.
This module will help you learn important science ideas. You will understand these
ideas through various activities.
1. Use the module with care. Do Not put unnecessary mark/s on any part of
the module.
2. Don’t forget to answer What am I good at? before moving on to the other
activities included in the module.
3. Read the instruction carefully before doing each task.
4. Observe honesty and integrity in doing the tasks and checking your
answers.
5. Finish the task at hand before proceeding to the next.
6. Return this module to your teacher/facilitator once you are through with it.
If you encounter any difficulty in answering the tasks in this module, do not
hesitate to consult your teacher or facilitator. Always bear in mind that you are
not alone.
We hope that through this material, you will experience meaningful learning
and gain deep understanding of the relevant competencies. You can do it!

What are the different parts of the eyes that you see?
What part of the ears do you see?
The eyes, ears, nose, tongue and skin are the sense organs of
the human body.
The Human Ey
The eyes are our organs of sight. Each part of the eye has its own
function
Parts of the Eyes
Cornea – is a transparent layer of the eyes that protects the outer
layer of the eyes
Iris –is the colored part of the eye. It controls the light that passes
through the eyes.
Pupil- is the black round opening in the eyes. The light enters the
eyes through the pupil.
Lens – the lens adjusts the focus of light. As you look at near or far
objects.
Retina - Is the innermost layer of the wall of the eyeball. A sharp
image of what you look at is produced at the center of the retina.
Optic nerve – The optic nerve moves signals to the brain. The brain
translates the signal, then you see the object.
Care of the Eyes
1. Have enough light when reading or writing. Rest your eyes
once in a while when reading or writing.
2. Avoid looking directly at bright lights. Use sunglasses in the
presence of bright light.
The ears are your sense of hearing. They help you identify the
different sounds in the environment. They also help to keep your
balance so you will not fall or feel dizzy when you move your
head.
Parts of the Ears
Eardrum – is a thin membrane that separates the outer ear from
the middle ear. It vibrates when the sound waves coming from the
ear canal hit it.
Pinna – is seen as the outer ear that is attached to the head.
Ear canal – is a short slightly S-shaped tube that leads to the
eardrum.
Care of the Ears
1. Never poke any hard object into your ear. It may
damage the eardrum.
2. Clean your ears regularly with cotton buds or with
soap and water.
3. Stay away from places with very loud noise. Loud
sounds may cause too much vibration that may lead
to deafness.

Activity 3. Directions: Write True if the statement shows care for the
eyes or ears, and False if not.
________1. I study my lesson in a well-lighted room.
________2. I like to rub my eyes with my hands.
________3. I use clean warm water to rinse my eyes.
________4. I use toothpick to poke my ear when it is itchy.
________5. I always insert my fingers to my ears.
What did I get?
Our Eyes
The eyes have pupil, retina, lens, optic nerve and iris.
The light enters the pupil.
The lights brand the light, making an image in the retina.
The nerve endings in the retina send signals to the optic nerve.
The optic nerve connects to the brain.
The brain tells what they see.
Our Ears
The ears have outer layer, middle, and inner parts.
The outer part catches the sound.
The sound waves reach the middle part.
Three small bones in the middle part vibrate.
The vibration goes to the inner part.
The inner part has nerve endings.
The nerve endings pass the sound waves to the brain.
The brain tells what you hear.
B. Identify the part of the ear that is being identified. Write your
answer on the blank
________1. Which part of the ear send picks up the sound from the
environment?
________2. Which part of the ear maintain your balance?
________3. Which part of the ear sends messages to the brain?
________4. Which part of the ear connects to the throat?
________5. What is the snail shaped part of the ear?
C. List down ways of caring for:
Eyes
