STUDENT’S VOICE MEETING MINUTE

Item 1: Teaching and learning:

Issues raised by student reps:

 Difficulties: using Kaltura,


 workload
 Format of the assignment
 Guildlines for the asignment
 Flow of the assignment
 Request for more paper hand outs

Response:
 We can look for when either teacher led changes or student
changes in approach are possible
 Workload is 25-35 hours study a week and cannot be changed.
 Nor can the move from using mainly online (not paper) resources.

Student issues:

Concern - kaltura uploads very slowly - Actions: JU to see IT

Concern: didn't know the instruction to use kaltura? Actions: short


video saying how to upload by a student (Josh).
Concern: late arrival leaving some students confused. Action: no easy
solution to this. Students have to catch up independently

Concern: some students are finding instructions on NILE hard to find.


Action: student reps to investigate this and why some students are
finding this.

Concern from James: Skills hub is being under used: Action: student
reps to find out why.

Request: more group work. Action: we will not bring in group


assignments but we will look to create a conference / learning fair or
similar.

Concern: The development hub is not suitable for classes. Action: One
more session will be held then no more. James will raise this with
university leadership.

Concern: pre and post tasks seem unclear to some. Actions: student
reps to find out why and propose solutions.
