Create a study plan. A study plan is created by setting up your schedule and
breaking down schoolwork into manageable, regularly scheduled times.
Regularly scheduled studying leads to long-term learning.
Use a calendar to stay organized. At the start of each class, look through the
requirements and enter important dates into a planner or calendar
alongside your personal and professional activities. Along with assignment
due dates, include times for your other class activities such as Live chat days
and times.
Learn to prioritize. Plan and organize what needs to be done based on its
importance. The most important or urgent activities should be completed
first, while less important activities can be completed later or eliminated
from your schedule.
Minimize distractions. Find a place where you can be alone to focus on your
schoolwork. Turn off the phone, shut the door, and make sure that family
and friends know that you cannot be disturbed.
Set small, manageable study goals. Rather than setting aside several hours
in one day to complete all of your schoolwork, set aside smaller blocks of
time each day. This prevents burnout and helps you retain more of what
you have learned.
Avoid procrastination. Classes at CTU are accelerated and move quickly. It
will be difficult to do your best work if you wait until the last minute. You
never know what obstacles might come up unexpectedly the day before
your assignment is due. Make sure to start assignments early and to work
on them incrementally throughout the week.
If you need help, ask for it right away. Classes at CTU move quickly, so it is
important to reach out right away if you need help. There are many
resources at CTU available to help you including your instructor, your
Student Success Coach and CTU Technical Support. Be sure to reach out
immediately if you need assistance.
