CERIFICATE OF COMPLETION

This is to certify that Ms. Shreya Hukkeri

& Ms. Shreya Choudhary have
successfully completed the project on
"Concept and Application of Centripetal
Force & Centrifugal Force” under the
guidance of Mrs. Smita Shinde , our
physics teacher during the academic
session 2023 - 2024 in practical fulfilment
of physics examination conducted by
AISSCE as per the guidelines of CBSE.

Acknowledgement
I would like to express my greatest appreciation
to everyone who helped and supported me
throughout the project. I am thankful to my
Physics Teacher, Mrs. Smita Shinde & Mrs. Anjali
Mane for their ongoing support during the
project.
Her advice and encouragement had a huge role to
finalize this project report. I would also like to
thank Mrs. Madhuri ma’am who was always there
in our Physics lab for assistance.
I would also like to thank principal ma’am Mrs. Raj
Aloni who gave me golden opportunity to do this
project on the Topic- Centripetal Force
I wish to thank my parents as well for their
support and encouragement without which I
could not have completed this project in the
limited timeframe.

Thank You.

INTRODUCTION

Merry Go Round works on the principle of centripetal

force and centrifugal force. Centripetal force is acting
on the connected masses with the help of a metal rod
or chain to pull an object to the centre or , as in the
given case, to pull the swings inward. Centrifugal force
is seen when the person on the swing experiences a
sensation while riding a merry-go-round which makes
the person to fly outwards. These forces are required
for an object to move in a circle, as is the case of a
merry-go-round.

Experiment
Aim : To design and construct a merry-go-round
expressing Centripetal Force & Centrifugal Force .

Materials Required : Cardboard { 8cm radius

circle, 6cm radius circle and 1.5 cm radius circles
4 pieces ( cut it in half for sheets )} * 2 A4 size
colour paper and some small pieces of different colour
paper * Battery ( 9 volt ) * DC Motor * Battery connector
& wire * Switch *1 Kitchen foil empty roll * Glue Gun
*Paper cutter * Earbuds 8 *Scale & pencil *string.

Procedure :
• Take a circle cardboard (8 cm radius)
• Join battery connector & wire with the dc
motor

• Join extra wire to connect the switch to dc

motor

• Cut the empty roll into 10 cm length

• Pass all the wire connections through the

empty roll and stick the dc motor at one of
it's end.
• Place the the model as shown in the
diagram

• Connect a 9 volt battery to the battery

connector

• Now take a circle(6 cm radius) and divide it

in 6 equal parts.
• Paste sticks/earbuds on the divided line with
glue gun.

• Make 6 chairs

• Attach strings to the chair

• Now attach these swings on the sticks/

earbuds.
• Join the dc motor and the swing model as
shown in the figure

• Cover it with a coloured paper to give a

finishing look.
Conclusion : Merry-Go-Round works on
the principle of Centripetal &
Centrifugal Force
