INVESTIGATORY PROJECT
ON
Creating a Light Generator that can light a bulb by using DC Motor.
ACKNOWLEDGEMENT

I express my gratitude to Principle Ma’am of SNBP International School,

Rahatani, Pune for her support in the preparation of this project.

I gratefully acknowledge out Chemistry teacher Mrs Sangeeta Ma’am for the
guidance and vision to foster this topic-

Creating a Light Generator that can light a bulb by using DC Motor.

To me and also for her encouragement in completing this project.

I thank my dad who helped me in the preparation of the model and also
supporting me in learning it neatly.

AIM OF EXPERIMENT

To create a working model of Electricity Generator to light a bulb by using a DC

Motor.

INTRODUCTION

All of us love the use and benefits of Electricity. Electricity is a part of our life now. It
is used to play TV, start Fan, Glow bulbs, use appliances and, many more. But have
you thought that how it is generated rather than on and off switch at your house?
You are going to know this through this project.

Electricity is generated through power plants through generators and turbines that
convert mechanical energy into electrical energy. This electrical energy is used in
houses.

In this project we are going to construct a working model of this power generator.
MATERIALS REQUIRED
1. Wooden Plank

2.Wooden Scale

3.CD (2)

4.Rubber Band

5.Black Insulating Wire

6.DC Motor

7.Small Bulb

8.Medium Screws

9.Bottle Caps (2)

DIAGRAM OF THE MODEL-
PROCEDURE
1. Take a wooden scale and attach it to the given wooden plank to create
a stand.
2. Now take the black insulating wire and cut it into small pieces of a
fixed length. Attach these pieces to the CD’s circumference and attach
the other CD on the top of it to create a disc shaped wheel.
3. Take 2 bottle caps and make small hole on the caps with the diameter
of a nut bolt screw.
4. Take the nut bolt and piercing it through the CD structure which is
now completed attach it to the wooden scale as that a rotating wheel is
created.
5. Now attach another bolt just beside the center of the CD surface so
that it becomes a handle for rotating the wheel.
6. On the wooden plank attach the DC motor just beside the wheel with a
bulb attached to the DC motor.
7. Get a rubber band which is big enough to get around the wheel and
the DC motor wheel which completes the circuit.
OBSERVATION

When we rotate the wheel the corresponding rubber band rotates

causing a movement in DC motor due to which bulb glows. The more
we rotate the wheel, the steadily the bulb starts glowing.
