I am Adam Chan, secretary of ECA Resource Centre’s Debate Club. I’m writing to tell you
about the Debate Club’s club activity proposal for January to June.

Club activity plan 1:

Event Title January Club Activity

Event Date 12/1/2024

Venue ECA Resource Centre

Event Description:
1) Ice-breaking activity, led by Club President, Lim Rou Xin. (1 hour)
2) Discuss for the ideas of Self-Development in July. (1 hour)

Objective:
1) To get the whole club to know each other better.
2) To come out with an idea for the Self-Development in July.

Club activity plan 2:

Venue ECA Resource Centre

Event Description:
1) Learn several debating skills, led by Teacher Cia Hue. (1 hour)
2) Search on the debate topic given by Teacher Cia Hue and have a short debate session.
(30 minutes preparation, 30 minutes debate)

Objective:
1) To gain knowledge to debate.
2) To test club members on how to search for strong evidence for a debate topic.

Event Description:
1) Club discussion on the Self-Development in July for who gets which roles and lines,
led by Club President Lim Rou Xin. (1 hour)
2) Spontaneous speech activity – Continuously talk about a topic for 1 full minute on the
spot, led by Teacher Cia Hue. (1 hour)

Objective:
1) To prepare to practise for the Self-Development in July.
2) To learn to build links between words and ideas that make concepts more meaningful
in a short duration.

1) Practise for the Self-Development in July, led by the highest committee, Rou Xin,
Adam and Wei Yee. (1 hour)
2) Learn 1 debate skill, led by Teacher Cia Hue. (30-45 minutes)

Objective:
1) To make sure that the Self-Development is well-prepared.
2) To improve debating skills.

Event Description:
1) Practise for the Self-Development in July, led by the highest committee. (1 hour)
2) Mini club debate competition (tentatively Sales game), led by Teacher Cia Hue. (1
hour)

Objective:
1) To ensure that the Self-Development is well-prepared.
2) To promote problem solving and innovative thinking among club members.
