    1 Steel Girder Bridges


    1.1 Steel superstructure types
    • Arch bridge
    • Suspension bridge
    • Cable-stayed bridge
    • Frame bridge
    • Girder bridge
    Internal force : bending (M) and shear (V)

    Evolution deck system :


    1) Battle deck system
    Strutural components have their own functions
    Deck doesn’t take part in the longitudinal load canying
    Advantages :
    - Easy calculation
    - Easy to assemble
    Disadvantages :
    - Fatigue
    - Material consumption uneconomical
    Deck plate function :
    • Supporting and distributing the load to the stringers
    • Providing additional area to the top flange of the stringers

    2) Beaem grid deck
    Stringers = limon (materials)
    Deck plate function :
    • Replace the wind bracing
    • Providing upper flange (=une bride) of the stringers

    3) Orthotropic deck plate Deck plate function :


    • Contribution to longitudinal load bearing capacity ⇒ Integrated function
