Q. 2 Grading – Sorting of unlike lots of produce into different lots according to the quality
specifications.
Types of Grading:
1) Fixed or mandatory grading – It includes sorting of produce according to the size quality and
other characteristics which are of fixed standards.
2)Permissive and variable grading – It includes grading according to the standards which are
varying according to the time.
3)Centralized or decentralized grading – Based on degree of supervision done by Govt. agencies.
Centralized grading includes the authorized packer sets his own lab managed by qualified chemist.
4)Grading at producers level - Grading is done at producers according to his knowledge about
grading on the basis of color and size.

Q. 3 Factors for sugarcane pricing policy:

Celsius to 10 degree Celsius and 90 to 95 Percent.
3)Packaging – The harvested fruits are usually wash with Chlorine (1000 pm) and after removing
the surface water they are coated with stay fresh High Shine Wax (2.5%) containing Bavistin (4000
ppm) and finally dried at 50 to 55 degree Celsius in the tunnel dryer.
4)Transportation – Mandarins are generally transported by rail or road as ordinary carry without
refrigeration.
