CHAPTER I. BACKGROUND

A. Introduction

Biriran Integrated School is one of the 32 schools under Bataraza District I that comprise the
municipality of Bataraza. The school is situated in Sitio Biriran, Barangay Tarusan, municipality of
Bataraza, province of Palawan. It was established on 2010 when CBNC purchased a piece of land with a
measurement of 500 square meters from a previous Barangay captain in the person of Mr. Daniel Pasigua.
The school started with a single-story building made up of wood and nipa roofing. Ms. Salvacion A. Feria
was the first teacher who was appointed as the Teacher-In - Charge along with 2 other teaching personnel.

Biriran Integrated School was formerly known as Biriran Elementary School. June 20, 2022 is the
luckiest day for the learner of Biriran it was the most awaited moment for the conversion of Biriran
Elementary school to an Integrated School offering Kindergarten, Elementary and Junior High School and
shall henceforth be referred to as Biriran Integrated School. The change of school name was approved by
the region thru the recommendation of Melbert S. Broqueza, PhD Chief Education Supervisor, Quality
Assurance Division and duly approved of Regional Director Nicolas T. Capulong, PhD, CESO III Director
IV. At present, the school headed by a Head Teacher, 5 elementary teachers, and 4 Junior High school
teachers, and 1 School Guard funded by Coral Bay nickel Corporation with counterpart from School
MOOE.
As of School Year 2023-2024, Biriran Integrated School has total number of

Classified as 1st class and basically a tourism municipality, Municipality X is where the world-
famous Island Bae is located. It became a municipality on December X, 19XX by virtue of
Republic Act XXXX. It comprises 14 barangays where 3 of which are located in Island Bae.

Of the 14 barangays of the municipality, the three (3) most populated barangays are: Barangay
A with a population of 12,526 followed by Barangay B with 11,076 people and Barangay C with
6,593 people.

The projected population of Municipality X for 20XX is at 60,000 with 15,000 households. Its
population density is 720 persons/square kilometer on average. Island Bae has a higher density
of 2,836 persons/square kilometer. Municipality X has a diverse culture, religion and dialect
brought about by its popular tourism industry patronized by varied provinces and foreign
countries. The population growth rate of Municipality X is at 6.45% per annum, the highest in the
region. Indigenous people are the Local Ati.

The goal of the contingency plan is to provide effective, efficient, timely and well-coordinated
response mechanisms in the event of the occurrence of a typhoon in Municipality X. Such
mechanisms shall help to protect lives, properties and the environment, and restore the
immediate needs of the affected communities.

B. General Objective(s)
