CONTINGENCY
PLAN
ON
BUSH FIRE
SY 2021-2022
Sebucal Integrated School is situated in a valley in the heart of Mount Malindang Ranges on
the headwaters of Layawan River in Oroquieta City. It is surrounded by High Ridges for about 2,000
meters above sea level. It is the farthest school in the Division of Oroquieta City. The school can be
reached through hiking for about 8 hours passing the risky mountainous terrain and will cross eight
(8) times the Layawan River. Another way of reaching the school through a ride for about 3 ½ hours
by a motorcycle or through four wheels passing northern municipalities of Misamis Occidental then
Barcelona, Dapitan City, Piñan, Mutia in Zamboanga del Norte, then Mansawan, Gandawan and lake
Duminagat. Another hiking for about 3 hours from Lake Duminagat to Sebucal for which the
teachers would prefer in their going to the station. It has 2.5 hectares’ land area.
The school has four (4) buildings made of wood including the teacher’s cottage, a total of
seven (7) non-standard rooms which needs minor repairs only.
At present the school has a total enrollment of forty (49) learners (36 are elementary and 13
secondary learners) with 6 teachers, (3 elementary teachers and 3 secondary teachers plus the school
head.
Barangay Sebucal where the school is located is in District 8 of the Division of Oroquieta
City, 1st congressional District of Misamis Occidental. The Barangay has a land area of about 2,000
hectares with 40 households or 163 individuals residing.
II. OBJECTIVE:
This contingency plan of Sebucal Integrated School will focus on Bush Fires and it makes
aware of our internal and external individuals within the school, community and even the nearby
community to safeguard one’s life. This plan is also developed for the benefit of our school children
so that during the occurrence of calamity or disaster the school has already the capacity on what to
do, to save the lives, and school properties and most specifically for the continuity of learning of our
school children in general.

IV. HISTORICAL DATA ON DISASTERS AND ITS IMPACTS
Sebucal Integrated School is also vulnerable to some natural disasters like earthquakes,
typhoons, fire other human-induced disasters. Since the school’s location is surrounded by tall
grasses and bushes, this contingency plan prioritizes the incidence of bush/wild fires that may cause
disaster in the school based on the hazard map.
This 2021-2022 Contingency Plan covers Sebucal Integrated School, Southwest District of
the Division of Oroquieta City, province of Misamis Occidental, Region X. This plan will ensure
awareness of our internal and external individuals within the school, community and even nearby
places to safeguard life and property. This plan is also developed for the benefit of our school
children that during the occurrence of calamity or disaster, the school has already the capacity on
what to do, to save lives, and school properties and most particularly for the continuity of learning of
our school children in general.
So far, there is no historical data and its impacts recorded in the school and even in the
community.

VI. ACTIVATION AND DEACTIVATION

B. EQUIPMENT
Aside from saving life and of properties, continuity of learning is the top most priority in the
making of this contingency plan of Sebucal Integrated School. Since disaster or calamity is
unpredictable both natural and human-induced it is imperative that one must have the knowledge and
skills in responding emergency calls, and much more one must always aware to avoid disaster
particularly human-induced. The partners mentioned below are the partner agencies that go hand in
hand in the promotion of care and safety in the lives of our school children and of the community
people in general.
Bureau of fire & Protection (BFP) give lectures about Fire Protection and coordinated in the
conduct on School-Based fire drill. They also extend their help in the inspection of wiring
installation in the classrooms because our school is also vulnerable to fire.
CDRRMO, Oroquieta City, this office monitors the conduct of Earthquake drill and Fire
drill every quarter and evaluated the activity to disaster.
Red Cross, Oroquieta City-Misamis Occidental Chapter, this office has been conducting on
how to give first aid and giving life support to the victims
Philippine National Police maintains peace and order and security of the school.
