Education

The implementation of the Enhanced Basic Education Act of 2013, commonly known as
the K-12 Basic Education Program, has brought about significant changes in the
Philippine education system, affecting various stakeholders, particularly learners. In the
additional two-year curriculum in senior high school, mathematics is one of the core
subjects offered to grade 11 students taking up any strand in the academic track. It is in
this context that the current study investigates specific factors affecting learners'
performance in mathematics. Specifically, this study combines the 3P (Presage-
Process-Product) model by Biggs (1989) with internal and school contextual level
factors in Perna's (2006) model of students success. Multiple linear regression model
through hierarchical method is used to determine the extent to which each internal and
school level contextual factor can optimally predict learners' performance in
mathematics in selected senior high schools in Marikina City during school year 2016 to
2017. The study's conclusions demonstrate that learners' success, as measured by their
final general mathematics grade, is mostly influenced by their prior math grades and
mathematical aptitude

According to Mihael Miller C. Picat In order to collect the necessary data, the study
used a descriptive correlational research design, with the questionnaire serving as the
primary instrument. The Statistics Program for Social Sciences was used to code,
tabulate, and analyze the collected data (SPSS). The respondents' profile and the
variables thought to affect their general mathematics ability were ascertained using the
mean and percentage distribution. The Grade 11 students' performance has been
determined to be "average." In particular, the students' perceptions of their study habits,
attitude toward General Mathematics, class size, parental support, teacher competency,
teaching strategy, and subject matter mastery, as well as the teacher's attitude and
working relationship, are all deemed to be "favorable" to the students' academic
performance. Perceived peer factor indicators are "influencing," home-based learning
materials and facilities are adequate, and school-based facilities, equipment, and/or
buildings are "very adequate." Based on the Grading Sheet, Grade 11 students in the
Tabuk City district perform "satisfactorily." Their academic achievement is strongly
correlated with their age and track/strand. Lastly, the influence of the school on the size
of the class and peer factor/influence are significantly related to the students’ academic
performance.
Academic Performance

The study determined the effect of the identified factors to the academic performance in
Mathematics of the SHS students in Luna, Apayao. The result showed that their age
and track/strand are significantly related to their academic performance. Likewise, class
size and peer factor or influence are significantly related to their academic performance.

General Mathematics

This brief report shows the academic performance in General Mathematics which Grade
11 students take during their first semester. Results show that the overall academic
performance of Grade 11 students in General Mathematics is Mean=86.49, SD=6.53.
This brief report also reveals the academic performance and descriptives of Grade 11
students when grouped according to Sex, Strand, and School Year attended. It also
shows that there exists significant differences in the academic performance of Grade 11
students when grouped according to Sex, Strand, and School Year attended. ( Calanza-
