    Audition Preparation

    1. Auditions = Politics
    2. Figure out why excerpt is asked – key to audition
    3. Prepare complete parts
    4. Practice convincing rhythm
    5. Practice complete audition without stopping
    6. Memorize excerpts
    7. Practice ending one excerpt and beginning another
    – audition flow
    8. Athletic Training

    9. Minimum Preparation of excerpts:

    a. Subdivide
    b. Subdivide with accents on beats
    c. Slur all – for air flow
    d. Practice in different keys
    e. Practice excerpt moderate, slow, and fast
    f. Practice excerpt wrong

    10. On day of audition:

    a. Dress respectfully
    b. Arrive 2 ½ hours early
    c. Slow warm up
    d. Don’t mentally and physically peak at your given
    time
    e. Bring food and water
