My school

Kindergarten to class ten. Spent thirteen most precious years of life at our school. And it’s
more than three and half decades since we left the school. Reflecting on those wonderful years
at school is making me nostalgic!

…the friends we have lost touch with, school prayers, classrooms, library, fun-filled excursions,
punishments, cricket and the playground politics, art classes, quizzes, meditation, Hindi exams,
movie screenings…. We learnt We enjoyed, We played,
We won, We lost, We laughed, We fought, We thought ….

General memories apart, the memory of the student's team winning the first-ever Faculty vs
Students cricket match, in which I was the highest run scorer, is still fresh.

It wasn’t just a school; It is much beyond.

“Make of us the hero warriors we aspire to become.

May we fight successfully the great battle of the future that is to be born,
against the past that seeks to endure;
so that new things may manifest and
we may be ready to receive them.”

These lines sung in our daily prayer at school gave us the strength to stand up, gave us the
confidence to venture into unknown territories, successfully fight the battle of life and prepare us
for the future. I feel proud to be an alumnus of this school which has groomed my personality
to fit into and face the challenges of the Indian Administrative Service (IAS).

“True teachers teach from their hearts not from the books”. We were blessed we had such
teachers in the school. Each one of them caring, dedicated, unique and willing to always go the
extra mile. I.V. Sir and Meenakshi uncle stand out as the ones who have left a lasting impression
on us and influenced our lives more than anyone. It is a no-brainer that Meenakshi uncle was
the best at all the subjects he taught us. At school, we hated that he was a stickler for discipline,
a tough taskmaster and wouldn’t accept any work unless it was the best we could do. He was
also the man behind every activity we loved at school. He inspired, encouraged and taught us
so many valuable life lessons. I am so grateful that he was my teacher, helped me see that I can
be more and gave me the confidence to dream big.

As a member of IAS, and more so after being assigned to the state of U.P, you need to be
proficient in the Hindi language. I frequently get compliments for my Hindi fluency and
command which I directly attribute to the farsightedness of IV Sir to help the students gain
expertise in our national language Hindi by preparing for the exams conducted by Dakshin
Bharat Hindi Prachar Sabha. Every such compliment makes me proud of my school.

In times of commercialization of education, despite several challenges, the school remained

committed to its core values of integral education and is celebrating the Golden Jubilee.
I wish, with the blessings of The Mother and Sri Aurobindo, our school shall attain greater
heights of excellence.
