Specialised cells means they have a specific function.

They have differences in their structures allowing them to have

different functions.

We say these cells have

differentiated.

Stem cell
• Stem cells are unspecialized/ undifferentiated cells
• They do not have a specific function
• They can divide and develop into many different
types of cells.

We can collect these cells from:

- A developing embryo
- Placenta
- Bone marrow etc.
• Change stem cells into specialised cells to treat
certain diseases and conditions (Diabetes, cancer)

• Repair damaged cells like nerve cells.

Organisms which can be seen with the naked eye
Multicellular: Many cells

Organisms which can NOT be seen

with the naked eye
Unicellular: Single celled
1. Cardiovascular system: Transports oxygen,
nutrients and metabolic waste

2. Respiratory system: Supplies oxygen and removes

carbon dioxide.

3. Digestive system: Breaks down food that can be

absorbed into the blood stream and transported.

4. Excretion system: Removes metabolic waste from the

blood and regulates the body’s fluids.
5. Musculoskeletal system: Muscles produce body movement.
The skeleton protects and support.

6. Nervous system: Receives and processes the body’s

response to stimuli.

7. Reproductive system: Produces sex cells
