Occupational Health and Safety Procedure


Practice of the Occupational Health and Safety Procedures is the
foundation of a secure and healthy workplace. This is to proritize the well-
being of every individual within an organization or workplace. This activity is
designed to empower you with the knowledge and skills needed to contribute
to a safe and healthy work environment.
Learning Objectives:
After completing this module, you will be able to:
LO 1. Increase awareness of potential hazards in the workplace.
LO 2. Understand and comply with the correct usage of Personal Protective
Equipment (PPE) relevant to their roles, promoting a safer work
environment.
LO 3. Assess a healthy and safety workplace by reporting unsafe conditions
and by using properly and correctly the sewing tools and
equipment .
LO 4. Foster a safety-conscious culture within the team by encouraging open
communication about safety concerns, recognizing safe
practices, and promoting accountability at all levels.

A. Activity 1. Visit a sewing shop and observe the hazards and the
preventive measures used in that particular shop.
1. Identify the hazards and risks which is usually incuured in the sewing
shop.
2. How the owner and workers addressed the identified hazards?
3. What precautionary measures used by the owner and workers in the
sewing shop?

B. Activity 2. Answer the following:


1. What are the possible hazards and risks commonly encountered in a
sewing shop or garment industry?
2. Classify these hazards according to their nature.
3. Why do we need to address immediately these identified hazards?
4. As a garment student, how could you help in preventing accidents in
the garment or clothing laboratory?
