Introduction
Have you played in the street or your backyard together with your classmates, friends or even
your family? If yes, how did you feel? And what did you feel after the game? Playing outside
with your loved ones is one of the unforgettable memories that you would cherish forever.
Many games can be played anytime, anywhere, even without spending money. In target
games, player scores when they successfully throw or strike an object closer to a target than
their opponents were able to. Tactical problems related to target games include shot
selection, judging distance, preventing points, and protecting the shot.

In this unit, you will learn how to play different Filipino traditional target games.

Equipment:

1. Empty Tin Can

2. Flip Flop or Slippers

Health-related and Skill-related Fitness required:

● Speed
● Agility
● Cardiovascular Endurance

How to Play:

● Begin by drawing a straight line as a barrier and a circle on the ground 20 ft away from
the line. All players will throw their pamato (flip flop or slipper) towards the circle. The
person who has the farthest pamato w ill be the “it” player.

● The “it” player will guard the empty tin can inside the circle, while other players using
their pamato will attempt to hit the can from the barrier line.

● After throwing their p

amato, they have to retrieve it without getting tagged.

● If the can is standing, the "it" can tag anyone who's trying to retrieve the pamato back to
the barrier line.

● If a player hits the tin can, the "it" player must stand the tin can back to the circle, and
try to tag another player.

● Once a player is tagged, he or she becomes the new "it" player.

How to Play:

● The game is to be played by two teams, each with an even number of members.

● One team plays the defensive team, and the other represents an offensive team.

● Before the game, a toss coin will be done to determine which team will play as the
offensive and defensive team.

● The throwing team splits into two groups and goes to the opposite sides of the field.

● The defensive team tries to avoid getting hit or touched by the ball. If a player gets hit
with the ball, he/she is out of the game until all the players get caught and are out of
the game, too.

● If the throwing team hits the members of the other team and gains 5 points, the round
is over. Then, the teams will switch roles - the throwing team now becomes the defense
and vice versa.

● If ever achieving 5 points takes a while, the 5-minute rule applies.

● Throwers cannot go beyond the designated line when throwing the ball.

● Substitutions can be done during a dead ball situation.
