education. While AI has many advantages, there
are also potential concerns when students use it
for assignments and tests. This talk attempts to
examine these dangers and suggest solutions to
guarantee students are using AI responsibly.
To begin with, Risks of AI in Homework and
Assessment are: Excessive reliance on AI may
hinder critical thinking and problem-solving skills,
leading to reduced creativity and independent
thought among students.
Furthermore, Students may misuse AI to plagiarise
content or generate ready-made answers,
compromising academic integrity.
In addition, AI algorithms can carry inherent
biases, leading to unfair assessments or skewed
outcomes that may negatively impact students
from diverse backgrounds.
On the other hand, Measures to Ensure
Responsible AI Usage are: Educate students about
the ethical use of AI, emphasising the importance
of originality, academic honesty, and responsible
behaviour.
Moreover, Foster an environment that encourages
critical thinking and problem-solving skills,
ensuring that students do not overly rely on AI for
answers.
Additionally, Diversify assessment methods to
include subjective evaluations, oral examinations,
and group projects, reducing the sole reliance on
AI-generated results.
Last not the list, Regular Monitoring and
Intervention: Educators should actively monitor
students' work, identifying patterns that indicate AI
misuse and intervening when necessary.
In conclusion, While AI can enhance learning
experiences, its misuse in student homework and
assessment poses significant risks. Educators and
institutions must prioritise implementing measures
to mitigate these risks and foster responsible AI
usage. By promoting critical thinking, teaching
ethical considerations, implementing diverse
