Flooding Incident in Zamboanga City

I. Situation Overview

On 31 January 2023 at around 2PM, several barangays in Zamboanga City


experienced flooding due to continuous heavy rains brought by localized
thunderstorms.

II. Status of Affected Areas and Population

A total of 1,191 families or 5,887 persons are affected in 12 barangays in


Zamboanga City (see Table 1).

III. Status of Displaced Population

a. Inside Evacuation Center


There are 762 families or 3,810 persons currently taking temporary shelter in
seven (7) evacuation centers in Zamboanga City (see Table 2).

1. Standby Funds
• ₱923.49 million Quick Response Fund (QRF) at the DSWD Central Office.
• ₱5 million available at DSWD FO IX.

2. Prepositioned FFPs and Other Relief Items


• 91,977 FFPs available in Disaster Response Centers; of which, 26,671
FFPs are at the National Resource Operations Center (NROC), Pasay City
and 65,306 FFPs are at the Visayas Disaster Resource Center (VDRC),
Mandaue City.
• 43,592 FFPs available at DSWD FO IX.
• ₱390.18 million worth of other FNIs at NROC, VDRC, and DSWD FO IX
warehouses.

b. Other Activities

DATE ACTIVITIES
01 February 2023 • DSWD FO IX closely monitors the situation and coordinates with the
officials of the affected areas for relevant updates and any request
of relief augmentation.
• All Quick Response Team (QRT) members are on standby for
possible deployment to the affected areas.

The Disaster Response Operations Monitoring and Information Center (DROMIC) of DSWD-DRMB is closely
coordinating with DSWD FO IX for significant disaster response updates and assistance provided.
