1. About the Customer
The Customer is a leading insurance and financial services organization headquartered in Toronto, Canada, with
operations in key markets around the world. They, along with their joint ventures, offer individuals and corporate
customers a diverse range of financial products and services that fall into wealth management and protection
business areas. Wealth management includes asset management, mutual funds, pension plans and products, and
annuities operations. Protection includes whole life, term life, universal life, unit-linked life and corporate-owned life
insurance for individual, life, health and disability insurance products are also offered to group clients.

2. Project Background
Vignette Services

The website of the Customer is its face at an international level. Vignette 7 (V7) offers the Customer enhanced
functionality, which will increase the efficiency of content management manifold.

The Customer wants to experience the advantage of the new functionality in Vignette 7.4 (V7) and the J2EE platform
architecture in order to improve and consolidate content production processes and efficiency, encourage and enable
re-use of content and provide a stable and scalable platform for the future of the Global website.

The guiding principles for this project are as follows:


• Retaining the functionality available in the current system
• Taking advantage of the new V7 framework
• Upgrading to version 7.4 which will improve the stability and performance of the environment Providing users
with an enhanced user interface
• Adding functionality when using the Vignette authoring tool
• Planning V8 upgrade and analyzing gaps between Vignette version V7 and V8
• Identifying changes required (on content and code streams
• Conducting performance tuning for CA home page to make it load faster.

.Net Services
The services involve providing a variety of web-based application development and maintenance – similar to the
Vignette services but on the .Net components of the websites.

The primary service areas include:

• Lead the development and support for all web-based development using .Net / Microsoft technologies
• Leverage the Sun Life Financial Content Management system to provide value to the business areas in a pro-
active and cost-efficient manner
• Manage or coordinate small projects from initiation through planning, requirements, construction to
implementation and post-implementation reviews
3. Scope of Work

High Level Scope Includes

• Providing Application Enhancement and Maintenance.


• Providing Software Quality Assurance for Vignette Projects.
• Project management activities
• Knowledge Transfer activities
• Using V7 to better manage the content.
• Providing Vignette migration support.

Low Level Scope Includes


• Manage project ensuring work is progressing as per plan and all deliverables are completed with required quality
and on time
• Participate in solution design and definition, design reviews, business requirements review, project planning,
implementation planning as requested by Customer
• Provide technical oversight, leadership and mentoring to developers working on assigned projects to ensure work
is being delivered on time and with quality
• Perform development tasks as assigned by Customer and ensure code is checked in customer source control
application on a regular basis as requested by the Project manager
• Coordinate/ plan deployments, change tickets, implementation and back-out strategy for assigned projects
• Support system integration testing, user acceptance testing, business acceptance testing by fixing any defects
uncovered in a timely manner as specified by Customer
• Deploy code to specified environments
• Create documentation and perform knowledge transfer to support team

Work with and under the direction of the Customer to provide the following in the Customer’s internal suite of web
application sites:
• Staff augmentation services in project management
• Staff augmentation services in business analysis
• Staff augmentation services in development
• Staff augmentation services in software quality assurance
• Staff augmentation services in resource management activities
5. Technology & Tools
Following are the technologies and tools that are employed for the services rendered to the Customer.
