Suggestions for Use

1: Letter Formation Cards
• Laminate for more durable, longer lasting use. Use these cards as a display to
show proper letter formation. Also, these cards are great for children to trace with
their fingers as they practice proper letter formation. With each trace, the student
should say the letter’s corresponding sound to help reinforce letter-sound
correspondence.
2: Craft/Playdough/Sticker/Cube Mats
• Laminate for more durable, longer lasting use. Once students know how to form
letters, use these letter mats for fun crafts and activities to reinforce proper letter
formation and identification. Some ideas are for students to write on them with
dry erase markers (should erase if laminated), place stickers to form the letter, use
unifix-cubes to form the letter, or to roll out play dough to form the letter.
3: Handwriting Practice Page

• Laminate and use dry erase markers for repeated use or print as many copies as
the number of students you have. These sheets allow students to practice proper
letter formation.
4: Handwriting Practice Strips

the number of students you have. These strips can be cut out or used as a whole
page activity. They make for a quick, fun way to practice proper handwriting.

Suggestions for Use

5: Write the Room & Picture Cards
• This set of 18 picture cards include words that begin with the letter and contain
the letter in the middle or end of the word. The picture cards can be used as
vocabulary flash cards, they can be used for games like memory or go fish (you will
need multiple sets), and they can be used for a write the room activity.
6: Follow the Letter

the number of students you have. Follow the Letter is a fun letter maze activity.
Students start by the bike in the upper right corner and color their way through
the path of uppercase and lowercase letters to the finish line, only coloring the
letter being spotlighted. The spotlighted letter is also in the upper right-hand
corner for students to reference.
7: Color Bubbles
the number of students you have. Color Bubbles works on font discrimination,
asking students to locate and color all of the uppercase and lowercase letters
being spotlighted. The spotlighted letter is also in the upper right-hand corner for
students to reference.
8: Cut & Paste: Letters

• Print as many copies as the number of students you have. Students cut out the
letter cards on the bottom and glue them into the uppercase or lowercase
columns accordingly. This activity works on letter recognition as well as font
discrimination.

Suggestions for Use

9: Cut & Paste: Sounds
• Print as many copies as the number of students you have. Students cut out the
pictures on the bottom and glue them next to their corresponding sound.
Students can then trace the dotted letters on the page. This activity practices
letter identification and beginning sound fluency.
10: Word Scramble

the number of students you have. Students look at the picture as a clue and then
unscramble the letters to write the name of the picture on the line provided. The
Word Scramble practices handwriting, spelling, and vocabulary building.
11: Word Work

the number of students you have. The four Word Work pages each focus on a
single word that begins with the spotlighted letter. With these pages students
practice writing, identifying the key word, and spelling.
12: Letter Bracelets

• The letter bracelets can be colored by students and worn all day to remind them
of the letter they are working on. The pictures on the bracelets help reinforce
beginning sound fluency for the spotlighted letter, and the uppercase and
lowercase letter help reinforce letter identification.
*BONUS* Take Home BINGO

• Print as many copies as the number of students you have. With this BINGO board,
students try to get a blackout practicing their new knowledge of the spotlighted
letter.
