Methodology
An Analysis of the Disaster
Preparedness of Lantic
Residents
Research Design
This study will utilize the case study research design. This
study uses the case study research design to explain the aspects
of the interviewee’s case and discover the cause of their
particular case.

The area of this study will be on villages that are much closer
to the fault line in Lantic. Thus, the sampling sites would
mainly be on Canyon Ranch and Moderno Homes Phase 3.
Villages that are also closer to these two will be a sampling site
like Cedar 1 – 3, Davilan and Phase 4 Milagrosa.
Population and Sampling
The population of this study as stated in the study
area are people that lives on areas that are close to the
valley fault system. The appropriate sampling method
for this study would be the cluster sampling method.
Each village will represent a cluster and from each of
this clusters we can collect data and interpret it in this
research.
Instrumentation
The researcher made a 10-question questionnaire
validated by the teacher that will be used to
determine the level of preparedness of each
cluster. Each question will also have a scale rating
to describe the sample’s disaster preparedness.
Scale Level of Preparedness

1-2 Unprepared

3-4 Needs further preparation

5-6 Prepared

7-8 Thoroughly prepared

9 - 10 Excellently prepared
Procedure and Time Frame
To establish the disaster preparedness of Lantic
residents, The researchers will split into two groups
and will administer the questionnaire on the sample
sites that we also considered as the clusters of our
sampling. Through the technique of simple random
sampling, we can select 2-3 respondents for each
cluster and get their mean score. This procedure
would be a week long of data gathering.
Validity and Reliability
The researchers asked for the help and assistance of
their teacher to check the appropriateness and
coherence of the questionnaire questions. This
research could also be reliable other places that
traverse the Valley Fault System because the area of
this study was also on an area that traverses the said
fault.
Data from this research could also be reliable for
disaster-prone areas in the Philippines because this
research not only discusses the preparedness of
people on earthquakes but disasters in general.
