PROPOSAL TO REVERT THE NAME OF THE OFFICIAL YEARBOOK FROM

TagSaHay to TRIUMPH

I. BACKGROUND AND JUSTIFICATION

Since its inception, the Official Yearbook of the University was called “Triumph”. However, in
2019, due to the change in the administration of the preparation of the yearbook, the same was
change to TagSaHay, a portmanteau of the words “Tagumpay sa Buhay”.

The SKSU Official Yearbook is more than just a collection of photographs and memories; it is a
reflection of the triumphs, achievements, and growth experienced by our students during their
time at our university. The name "Triumph" embodies the essence of these accomplishments and
better resonates with the values and aspirations of our institution.

In view of the foregoing, it is proposed that the name of the Official Yearbook be reverted to the
one that is approved by the Board of Regents – “Triumph”.

II. OBJECTIVES

Generally, this proposal aims to revert the name of the Official Yearbook to “TRIUMPH”.

Specifically, this proposal seeks to accomplish the following:

1. Reflect Achievements: "Triumph" accurately represents the outstanding achievements of

our students and the continuous progress made by our institution, ensuring that the
yearbook remains an inspiring keepsake for all;
2. Show Cultural Sensitivity: While "Tagsahay" has cultural significance, it's essential to
recognize that language evolves, and meanings can shift over time. The name "Triumph"
is universally understood and does not risk misinterpretation;
3. Maintain Relevance: The name "Triumph" highlights the positive outcomes and victories
of our students, reinforcing their pride in their academic journey and fostering a sense of
belonging within our community; and
4. Establish Brand Consistency: A name change to "Triumph" will bring brand consistency,
aligning the yearbook's name with the overarching ethos of our university.

III. PROJECT IMPLEMENTATION AND MANAGEMENT PLAN

To ensure a smooth transition, the implementation plan below is proposed:

1. Announcement: A formal announcement shall be made to inform the University

community of the name change, explaining its significance and relevance;
2. Editorial and Design Updates: The editorial and design teams responsible for the
yearbook will work diligently to incorporate the new name, "Triumph," into the
publication's content and cover design;
3. Printing and Distribution: All future editions of the SKSU Official Yearbook will be
published under the name "Triumph.". Any existing copies of "Tagsahay" shall be
appropriately labeled for reference; and
4. Digital Presence: The University website, social media channels, and any other relevant
platforms will be updated to reflect the new name and branding.
