CAMPUS JOURNALISM ACT OF 1991
was enacted on July 5, 1991 to supposedly
uphold and protect the freedom of the
Press at the Campus level and to promote
the development and growth of campus
journalism.
REPUBLIC ACT NO. 7079
is created for several reasons
REASONS

1. To uphold the Freedom of the Press at the campus level

2. To promote the development and growth of campus journalism as


a means of strengthening, and ethical values, encouraging critical
and creative thinking, and developing moral character and personal
discipline of the Filipino youth

Campus journalism helps students become more aware
of what’s happening around them. They learn how to
become responsive and proactive citizens at a young
age. Additionally, it helps and trains students to become
responsible . Student journalists are taught to practice
fairness, balance and truthfulness.

THREE Campus journalism provides students a voice. Student journalists can


act as messenger of the student body. School publications serve as a

IMPORTANT venue for students so their message can reach the proper school
authorities. Likewise, it is a way of bringing together and uniting the

REASONS WHY students, the faculty, and the administration.

IT SHOULD BE Campus journalism helps students improve their skill in

IMPLEMENTED communication arts. The student-journalists are each given regular


tasks – editing, writing, proof reading, and headline writing among
others.

Seminars

Such competitions, conferences and seminars shall be held at the


institutional, division , and regional levels, culminating with the annual
national elementary , secondary tertiary School Press Conferences in
places of historical and /or cultural interest in the country .
