PROPOSAL TO CHANGE THE NAME OF THE UNIVERSITY MAGAZINE FROM

F.A.T.E.S to P.R.I.Z.E

I. BACKGROUND AND JUSTIFICATION

The University's core values form the foundation of SKSU’s academic community, guiding its
actions, decisions, and aspirations. The decision to change the core values from "FATES" which
stand for Fairness, Accountability, Transparency, Excellence, and Service to God and to the
People to "PRIZE" which stand for Patriotism, Respect, Integrity, Zeal, and Excellence in Public
Service was made to better reflect the evolving nature of the institution and the values it holds
dear. The change was also made in consideration of the fact that the PRIZE core values is more
student-centered. In light of this change, it is only fitting that the University Magazine aligns
with the updated values.

This change is not only symbolic but also practical in ensuring that the magazine continues to
resonate with the University community and represent its current ethos accurately.

II. OBJECTIVES

Generally, this proposal aims to change the name of the University Magazine from F.A.T.E.S to
P.R.I.Z.E.

Specifically, this proposal seeks to accomplish the following:

1. Alignment with Core Values: The new name, "PRIZE," directly aligns with the revised
core values, making it easier for readers to connect with the University's mission and
principles.
2. Clarity and Consistency: This change will provide clarity and consistency in the
communication, avoiding any potential confusion between the magazine's name and the
core values.
3. Relevance: By adopting the name "PRIZE," the University Magazine will remain
relevant and reflective of the dynamic nature of the institution, promoting a sense of
belonging among the readers.

III. PROJECT IMPLEMENTATION AND MANAGEMENT PLAN

To ensure a smooth transition, the implementation plan below is proposed:

1. Announcement: A formal announcement will be made to inform the University

community of the name change and its rationale;
2. Update Publications: All future issues of the University Magazine will bear the new
name, "PRIZE," starting from the upcoming edition;
3. Website and Branding: The university website, social media channels, and any other
relevant platforms will be updated to reflect the new name and logo; and
4. Archive Transition: An archival process will be initiated to ensure that past issues of the
magazine are appropriately labeled and categorized for reference.
