TITLE: Reigniting the Flame in the Teaching Profession: Focusing on HOTS-SOLO in the Classroom,
Assessment, Research and Innovation through District-Wide In-Service Training for School Heads and
Teachers

II. OVERVIEW
The 3-day district-wide INSET aims to reignite the passion of teachers in their teaching
profession which specifically focuses on Higher Order Thinking Skills (HOTS) side by side the new Structure
of Observed Learning Outcomes (SOLO) framework, assessment, research and innovation, the trends in
today’s educational context. "Reigniting the Flame in the Teaching Profession: Focusing on HOTS-SOLO in
the Classroom, Assessment, Research, and Innovation" is a comprehensive training program designed to
rejuvenate and inspire educators, ensuring their continued enthusiasm and commitment to the teaching
profession. This program centers around three key pillars: assessment, research, and innovation.
Furthermore, this undertaking is timely especially so that the Matatag Curriculum will start next
school year for Kindergarten, Grade 1, 2 and 7. Teachers would eventually acquire the necessary knowledge,
skills and attitude embedded in the training. The knowledge will equip them the skill to create well-
constructed test questions, applying the principles, format and guidelines. The familiarization of the HOTS-
SOLO will little by little integrated in the classroom. The understanding of how imperative for teachers to
craft both basic and action research in solving problems in their own context and innovation that are timely
and relevant are needs-based. Thus, making the INSET productive and effective.
Finally, teachers are expected to reflect on their practices, apply what they have learned in the
different sessions, create meaning from the assessments they give such as using the result to further improve
instruction and craft research and innovation to address issues and solve certain phenomena such as low result
of National Achievement Test (NAT), presence of instructional readers, low numeracy skills, and the like in
the long run.
III. OBJECTIVES:
After the implementation of the said activity, 100% of the participants should be able to:
The following are the expected outcomes of the 3-day In-Service Training:
1. sample of a well-crafted test questions as to principles, correct format and guidelines in the construction of
multiple choice items between stem and option
2. well-written title, problem, name of intervention and rationale of either an action or basic research

The monitoring will be done by the Public Schools District Supervisor and the proponent in terms of
the following: timeliness of all the sessions, attendance of participants, support needed by the participants in
each topic, clearing houses, and relevance of the topics.
The evaluation will be done after each day through accomplishing an evaluation link so that the
process the next day and future undertakings such as this will be improved.
