Subject: Concern over decreasing number of birds

Respected Sir/ Ma’am,

I wish to bring to your kind notice, my growing concern about rapid decrease in the population of birds
in the area. Our area is near a bird sanctuary that is known to have more than 500 species of birds but
many of them are now on the verge of extinction.
According to reports from the recent seminar held on Conservation of Birds, there was a time, when a
large number of birds would flock in the sanctuary. These numbers have come crashing down in the

recent years. The reasons for the decrement are rampant construction of buildings, cutting of trees and
encroachment of their habitats by humans in the area.
It is time for the people of the area to be aware of this grave situation by conducting seminars and
workshops. I request the government, environmentalists and the society to show their concern before it
is too late.

Subject: Role of sanitation workers in controlling the spread of pandemic

Respected Ma’am/ Sir,

Through the columns of your esteemed newspaper, I would like to draw people’s attention towards
the importance of the role played by the cleanliness and sanitation workers of our country during the
COVID-19 pandemic.
The deadly virus is so dangerous that people are advised to maintain a safe distance from each other
because the virus attacks people coming into close proximity with the ones already affected by it. Despite
the amount of risk it has, social workers are continuously working to control the spread of the virus by
going to the places which are highly contaminated with the virus without even giving a single thought

to the risk that they are putting their lives in. They are doing this just to make sure that the people of the
nation are safe.
The decline in the number of cases has been made possible due to their extreme efforts of cleaning and
sanitizing the cities efficiently. I hope that you will publish my letter in your newspaper to make people
realize the importance and courage of the sanitation workers of our country.

Subject: Improvisation of the living conditions in slums

Respected Sir/ Ma’am,

Through the columns of your esteemed newspaper, I would like to highlight the quality of life of the
people living in slums. As we know that there are no good job opportunities in the rural areas for people
to earn bread for their families, they all are migrating to the cities to earn.
In the cities, they have to live in small, dingy and unhygienic slums that comprise of a 4x4 space
accommodating six to seven people or sometimes, even more. than that. They have to share the kitchens
and toilets with every member of the slum.
NGOs, training institutes, local residents, and community groups must join hands with the government
to eradicate their miseries. Therefore, I request you to highlight this issue in your newspaper so that it
catches the attention of the concerned authorities.
Yours truly,

Subject: Negligence towards the maintenance of the old buildings in the city

Respected Sir/ Ma’am,

Through the columns of your esteemed newspaper, I would like to raise the issue of negligence towards
the maintenance of old buildings in the city.
I feel utter disappointment and disgust hearing about an old building collapsing in the city each day. In
fact, the number of such collisions is increasing day by day. The thing that builds the anguish in me even
more is that the concerned authorities are giving no attention to it. Last night, ‘Rama Plaza’ which was in
Vasant Kunj, sheltering a famous food joint, collapsed completely injuring around thirty people . People
of the injured families are extremely angry towards the municipality authorities for negligence towards
maintenance on their behalf. Every day, people live in fear inside these buildings as they can crumble
any moment.

Kindly, publish my letter in your newspaper so that the authorities of the city can look into the matter at
the earliest and save such collisions happening in future.
Yours faithfully,
Amit / Amita
