INTRODUCTION
This portfolio tells a tale of a journey that began within the four walls of a classroom and extended far
beyond, reaching into the heart of Barangay Taft and Sitio Gayas. This is not just a story of community
service, but one of self-discovery, environmental awareness, and a testament to the power of collective
action. It is a testament to the belief that even the smallest act of service can ignite ripples of positive change.
Within these pages, you'll find two distinct yet interconnected initiatives.

One is a heartwarming tale of spreading holiday cheer in the humble homes of Sitio Gayas, and the
other is a determined effort to reclaim and beautify the streets of Barangay Taft. These projects, while
different in nature, were united by a single, unwavering thread the spirit of service. In Sitio Gayas, our
actions transcended the act of distributing pre-packaged groceries. Each food bundle we assembled and
delivered was a symbol of compassion and empathy, creating bonds that left lasting impressions on both us
and the recipients. In Barangay Taft, our mission was more than just a clean-up drive.

As we cleared littered streets and transformed neglected corners, we were also cultivating a sense of
responsibility and sparking a passion for collective action within ourselves and the community. It captures
shared laughter and sweat, challenges overcome, and lessons learned. It speaks of the profound personal
growth that blossomed as we stepped outside our comfort zones and embraced the transformative power of
service. So, come and embark on this journey with me. Witness the evolution of students into change-
makers, of theory into action, and of individual seeds of service blossoming into a collective force for good.

Evaluation of Place and Family (December 8, 2023)
Identifying what the families need, conducting assessments, understanding family dynamics, and
developing a plan are only the samples we take note of while evaluating Sitio Gayas last December 8, 2023.
It was a task where we had to be precise in order to make sure that every family could receive small gifts
from the private organization and also as part of our NSTP.

3
Packing of Goods (December 9, 2023)
Repacking goods for distribution is a key part of many community service projects. Gather goods, sort
the goods, and repack the goods these are the timelines given to us, and on the 9th day of December 2023,
the annex building was filled with students who helped in repacking even though it was Saturday.

4
Distribution of Goods (December 10, 2023)
Collaborating with a private organization for a community service project like distributing goods in
Sitio Gayas is a great way to pool resources and make a larger impact. Such partnerships can help reach more
people and provide more substantial assistance. Even though it was too hot and sunny we are able to achieve
the goal on that day.

5
Clean Up Drive (Jan 6, 2024)
Improve the immediate environment in Barangay Taft, but it also promotes a sense of community
responsibility and care for the environment. Collaborating with barangay and SK officials must have made
the initiative even more impactful. Their involvement likely encouraged more community members to
participate and take ownership of the cleanliness of their surroundings.

Narrative Report: Community Extension Service in Barangay Gayas and Taft
The Civic Welfare Training Service (CWTS) component of the National Service Training Program
(NSTP) indeed provides students with a unique opportunity to serve their communities. STI College Surigao
took this opportunity to embark on a meaningful journey of community service.

Bringing Bundle of Joy: Barangay Gayas, December 8, 9, 10, 2023

On this day the distribution of goods was successful and I also had a sense of relief because I was
there personally to see their smiles and laugh while receiving small gifts. And even though it was hot they
patiently fell in line just to receive a small gift. And also before that, since it was Sunday a mass was held
before the distribution. To thank God for what they're about to receive. After the distribution, my fellow STI
students went to the home of one of my classmates to celebrate what we achieved that day. We shared some
laughs and small talk we even had karaoke and we also ate some food to end the day.

Cleaning Up: Barangay Taft, January 6, 2024

Even though I wasn't there to attend based on the people who went in the clean-up drive they cleaned
some blockage to the drainage systems and picked up some trash along the way and also engaged with the
community to ask them to clean the environment.

Impact and Beyond:

The essence of community service and the transformative impact it can have, not just on the
communities served, but also on those who serve. The "Bundle of Joy" initiative and the clean-up drive in
Barangay Taft were indeed more than temporary interventions. They served to provide immediate relief,
instill a sense of environmental responsibility, and foster community pride. More importantly, these projects
helped instill in students the values of empathy, civic duty, and environmental stewardship.

Conclusion:
The community extension service I participated in and organized by STI College Surigao carried out
in Barangay Gayas and Taft is indeed a testament to the power of collective action and the transformative
potential of service. It's truly inspiring to see how you've come together with other civic organizations to
make a positive impact in these communities. Your commitment to continue seeking ways to make a
difference reflects the true spirit of service.

Overall Reflection
Experience and observation, it was a learning experience for me even though I've attended some
community service because this one is different from the others. I am with my classmates and also it is a part
of my NSTP. It was memorable from the start till the end because it really sinks to us on how we should be
really engaged in this activity not because it is mandatory but because of how big this event was. Not only
STI College but also private organizations with the help of Brgy officials.
Also, I observed the camaraderie of every individual who participates in this activity, because even
though we barely know each other we unite as one for the common good of the people whom are we helping.
Also, the growth and learning in this activity will never be forgotten because not only did I help
people but also it improved my growth and developed my personality as well. I will be forever grateful for
these kinds of projects where we go out to help others even in the smallest kind of way we can help.
