Many peoplewho suffer injustice feel unableto take any action. They may fear further
injustice,they may be poor and feel they are of no importanceor they may lack understanding
of their rights. 1'headvocacydepartmentin Kale Heywet Church in Ethiopia hasbeentraining
churchleadersas advocacypractitionersto supportpeoplewhen they suffer injustice.
The practitionershave receivedtraining for one month a year over a four- year period.
Forty- six traineesgraduatedin 2005 and their certificate is recognizedby the government.

One of the practitioners,EndaleEro, found two girls crying. When he askedaboutthe
problem, they told him that they had applied and been interviewed and acceptedfor posts
within the local govemment.However, when they reported for work they found that others
had been given the posts. Endale askedfor permissionto speakon their behalf. He took the
issueto court and won the casefor them. Not only did they receive their jobs but they were
alsocompensated.
