Hi Ash,

I have finally gotten the green light from my parents to come and visit you in Malaysia.
My mom had also booked my flight ticket which is two weeks from today. Let me know of
your plans for my visit. Can you suggest the appropriate attire that I need to bring too?

Looking forward to your reply.

Now write an email to your friend in about 80 words. Write your answer below.

Hi Billie,

Finally! You dream to visit Malaysia has come true! I am excited to hear.

Let me tell you what I have planned for you. Firstly, we will visit Teluk
Kemang beach located in Port Dickson where we can spend time sightseeing
plus enjoying our day there. Furthermore, it is best for you to prepare short
pants, sleeveless shirts, and slippers.

Secondly, I will take you to the FRIM or Forest Research Institute

Malaysia. It is actually a reserved tropical forest near Kuala Lumpur. Since it is
a forest, it is important to wear long pants, round-neck shirt, shoes, and socks
since we will do some hiking there.

I am very much looking forward to meeting you!

Bye!

style.

Question 2
Your class has been discussing how they spend their money and your teacher has asked you
to write an essay about what you would spend your money on.
In your essay, you should write about:

 what you would like to buy

 reasons for your choice
 where do you usually buy these things

Write your essay using all the notes and giving reasons for your point of view.

We all need money in order to buy something that we like. Nothing is

free in this world. Therefore, when we have money, we need to use it wisely. If
it is spent on the things that we don’t need, we will waste our money. There are a
lot of good and worthy things you can buy. For example, food, clothes and
books.

As for me, if I have money, I would like to buy a guitar. An acoustic guitar
to be exact. The guitar has been in my wish list since I started watching song
covers on the YouTube. I’ve been dreaming on playing it, but I haven’t had
enough money to purchase it.

The reasons why I want to buy a guitar is because, I love music. I knew
how to play the piano before, but I want to learn something new. It would be
amazing if I get to play more than one instrument. Moreover, I want to learn how
to play the guitar myself. I can do that by watching tutorials on the
YouTube. In that way, I don’t have the waste money on guitar lessons.

I usually buy my instruments at this shop called Yamaha. They have good
quality instruments, so their price is expensive. However, it is worth it because
it’s better than low quality instruments.

In a nutshell, I’d spend my money on guitar because I would love to

play a new instrument. They said money can’t buy you happiness, but it can
surely help me achieve my goals.

My School Canteen By
Zubayr

The school canteen is the place where every student gathers together to buy their food
during recess. The school canteen is an important part of the school. It is where students fill their
empty stomach after hours of learning in their classrooms. The school canteen is visited every
school day. So, it is important to provide a high-quality canteen at the school premise. The
question is, how to provide a high-quality canteen?

Firstly, I would like to start with the food. The school canteen should serve a well-balanced
meal for the students. This is because, students need to maintain a healthy diet. If the canteen
serves junk food such as fries, hotdogs and burgers, students will make it a habit to eat junk food every
day at school. Junk food is not healthy and shouldn’t be eaten for five consecutive days.

Secondly, the school canteen should have separated sections for each age. For example,
form 5 students can eat at their own section. This way, the canteen will be less chaotic and more
organised. No food and drinks will be spilled, and the canteen will remain clean. Everyone can
enjoy their break peacefully and comfortably.

Lastly, the canteen can improve by providing meals in trays and the students should bring
their own food containers to put the food, instead of using plastic. By doing this, we can reduce
the usage of plastic and we can teach students the importance of it. Furthermore, we can also
encourage the students to benefit the use of food containers. If student doesn’t want to eat the
food during recess at the canteen, they can eat it elsewhere or bring it home. Therefore, no food will
be wasted.

All of the above are my suggestions on how the school canteen can be provided in our
school. I hope this article can benefit us in some ways and will upgrade the school canteen to a
better one. Every student should never vandalise the school canteen and we should all take a good
care of it.

Report about the week-long visit for international students

by: Suhaib

During the last school holidays, SMK Paya, hosted a week-long visit for
international students. A total of 20 students of British nationality within the age
group of 14 to 17 participated in this visit.

The visit was held as it was good for international relations and in particular
between England and Malaysia. Besides, this visit provided an opportunity for
foreigners to understand the culture of Malaysia’s multi-ethnic society. The
accommodation for the international students was at the Hilton Hotel.

Furthermore, throughout the course of the visit, the international students

attended cooking lessons carried out by members of our school’s life skills
club and several members of our school’s traditional games taught them
various traditional games. Our students also took the international students for a
sight- seeing tour to observe landmarks in the heart of Kuala Lumpur.

Moreover, feedback from the group of international students was very

positive which many felt that our country had beautiful beaches. The majority of
them also expressed their amazement at the variety of our local cuisine.

Based on the visit, I recommend that we explain our country’s rich historical
background during future international students’ visits. All in all, I hope visits like
this can be hosted more regularly to allow our students to be exposed to other
students from different nationalities.

Restaurant Review: Patin Tempoyak Restaurant

Have you ever felt frustrated going to a restaurant due to its too-good-
to-be-true image circulated in the social media? How about visiting an
underrated restaurant? Maybe you can experience something different!

I have been to a restaurant and it is called Patin Tempoyak Restaurant.

It is located near my home. Usually, after watching movies at the cinema
in the shopping mall beside the restaurant, I have my meals there with my friends
or family. The place is very strategic and you can easily identify it by its simple,
big signage – Patin Tempoyak Restaurant.

Moreover, upon entering the restaurant, I was captivated by the

interior, the white and turquoise colours combination created peaceful,
neutral vibe that was different than the outside. In addition, the tables prepared
for 2, 4 or even 6 people were adequate for single, couple, small or big
family to enjoy their lunch or dinner. The restaurant even had big, round
table for 12 people! Certainly, it was for special occasion organised in the
restaurant. However, booking beforehand was required for such occasion
without any deposit.

Besides, what made the restaurant more special was the LED TV on the
wall did not display anything but natural sceneries of lakes, forests, and
beaches with soothing and peaceful sound of the nature. Other than that, the
waiters were all well-trained and friendly, it was as if the smile was pasted on

6
their faces while serving all customers besides quick services where there was
no time to wait for the order to be served on the table.

How about the meals? Of course, they were scrumptious! The restaurant
signature’s dish - the fresh catfish from Kuala Lipis, Pahang was cooked
with love and don’t forget, free drinks with any order! What more could you
ask for? It was simply superb!

I absolutely recommend the restaurant to others for several reasons. First,

I could see people would visit the restaurant after their first time. Second, they
would be satisfied like how I felt and lastly it was worth it.

All in all, even though it is an underrated restaurant, it serves its purpose

to make the customers happy.

The Happiest Day of My Life

It was on Sunday morning, I got ready to go to school since that was the
day my SPM’s result came out. I was so excited to know my result since I had
done my best in my SPM examination. I went into the car with my father and
sister and drove through the city to my school.
By the time we arrived at my school, my father kissed my head
and wished me good luck however, my sister made jokes that I would
flunk. She was the best sister I have ever had. Right after that, I went to the
school’s hall to find my teacher. Even though I was not quite a good student, I
was my teacher’s favourite so she hugged me right after she saw me. She then
handed me the result. I was on cloud nine! Straight A’s.

That day went sleek, my father patted me on my shoulder and my sister

gave thumbs up. Before I got into the car, I saw one of my friends was crying,
not because of her good result, but she was slapped by her abusive mother
for not getting the result her mother expected. Although I did not really care
about her, but I thought it maybe not her best day.

After we arrived home, all my family members cheered and gave me

continuous hugs. It was a fascinating moment to me. Out of the blue, I got a
text message from my friend, Mia. She lived far away so we hardly meet and
talk to each other. I read the text message and I realized that it was not from
Mia. It was her brother who texted me using Mia’s mobile phone. When I read
the message, my legs trembled, I couldn’t breathe and my hands were
shaking as I learnt that Mia had passed away due to cancer.

I cried my heart out. I thought the day would be my happiest day but I
was wrong. I should have called her sooner to tell my result. I knew she would
be the happiest person on Earth. I just knew it because she had been my best
friend for 10 years.
