Sieve analysis

Soil mechanics
Introduction
Is a traditional way to knowing the sizes of soil particles, the sizes of sieves are between
(pan - 1 inch)

By those sizes we can know the type of soil sample of a specific area.

Aim
1) to determine Cc and Cu
2) to find the ratio of sand and the gravel in a soil sample
3) to know the size of a soil sample

Materials
1) different sizes of sieves
2) soil sample
3) balance accurate
4) sieve shaker

Procedure
1) different sizes of sieves
2) soil sample
3) balance accurate
4) sieve shaker
Calculation

Conclusion
This test shows that the most of our dry soil sample are gravel, by calculating the
data that we have collected from the test, we found that 61.34% is gravel and
38.66% is sand according to the graph and 0% is silt
By this test we learned how to analysis a soil sample by their size.
