LAB ASSIGNMENT
F=2GHz
pw=0.3msec
Pt={5 KW + (last two numbers of your registration number x 25)W }
= 5000+12x25 =5300W or 5.3kW
T=300K
Loss=3dB (system loss)
NF=1.5dB
G=30dB
SNR at least 10dB
λ = 3e8/2e9 = 0.15m
RCS of A380=𝟖𝟎𝒎𝟐
Velocity of A380=275m/s
RCS of Learjet 75=𝟏𝟓𝒎𝟐
Velocity of Learjet 75=250m/s
Radar detects these two aircrafts at outward range=100km

Task1:
Task2:

B=1/tau =1/0.3e-3 sec = 3333.34 Hz

For calculating Range, we will use the simple distance formula S=vxt. The range
will start from 100 km and then after each time we will calculate the distance
and then add it to the previous range to get the new range (since the two
aircrafts are flying radially outward)
e.g. in case of Airbus A380 for time =2 sec, S=v x t =275m/s x 2sec = 550m
hence range in this case will become:
New Range= last range+ calculated range =100km + 550m = 100.55km
So on we will calculate the other ranges as well.

Pt={5 KW + (last two numbers of your registration number x 25)W }

= 5000+12x25 =5300W or 5.3kW

Task3:
The both tables (A380 and Learjet 75) shows that the Signal-to-Noise Ratio (SNR)
stays above 10dB for the first 12 seconds in all methods. As the SNR decreases, it
indicates that both the A380 and Learjet are moving away from the radar,
becoming less detectable. There is a small difference in SNR values between these
methods because they are all using different parameters like system losses.

Task4:
Yes, these two aircrafts will be visible to the radar after 12 secs because SNR is
greater than 10dB for all three methods and as stated in the problem The radar
can only detect a target when its SNR is at least 10 dB.
Also, the radar antenna rotates at 4 revolutions per minute i.e. the update on
each target is received after 15 secs and we have checked till 12 secs only so the
next update is also not received. Hence the two aircrafts will be visible.
