ABSTRACT

Wisata Sampan Harau is located in the Harau Valley tourist attraction, in


Lima Puluh Kota Regency. This tourist attraction is in great demand by tourists,
where from the data obtained from Disparpora of Lima Puluh Kota Regency, it is
known that tourist visits always increase every year. The number of tourists in 2015
is 157,134 people, in 2016 is 204,639 people, and in 2017 is 285,879 people.
However, the tourism boat in the Harau Valley still has many disadvantages, such
as the lack of safety, the absence of a dock as a place for passengers to load and
unload, water can get into the boat, and the design of the boat is not ergonomic yet.
So that it is needed to improve Wisata Sampan Harau to maintain the existence of
the tourist attraction and increase the visitors. This study uses the Quality Function
Deployment (QFD) method, which is redesigning existing facility of boat tourism
based on Voice of Customer. Based on the research that has been done, it can be
concluded that the research successfully proposed the conceptual design of Wisata
Sampan Harau’s facility that is safe and comfortable for visitors, the detail is: using
wider base; the seats are more ergonomic; on the boat there is safety and operating
instruction; the edge of the boat is used rubber; on the boat there is a hook as a
connection to the dock; the design of the boat uses Minangkabau icon; the paddle
used is stronger, lighter and ergonomic; there is a dock as a place for loading and
unloading the passengers; life jackets that can be used optionally is available; there
is a locker for storing passenger’s things; there is a trash bin to maintain cleanliness;
there is an information board that contains complete information about Wisata
Sampan Harau; there is a brand logo Sampan Wisata Harau on the dock; the dock
is designed by having a handle to get in and out from the boat; and there is a hook
that connects the boat to the dock, so the boat does not need to be held by the officer
anymore, and the passengers can get in and out effectively and efficiently.
