INTRODUCTION
The office that your students work in, the size of the staff, and the type of project being
drawn will all affect the role of the drafter. This chapter explores common roles of a drafter
and common types of drawings included in a set of plans. Because most graduates of two-
year technical and junior college programs work for architectural and engineering firms,
these will be the only types of drawings explored in this text.
