TAKING A GAP YEAR

Youngsters are often encouraged to take a year off, to work or travel across the
world, before coming back to their formal university education. In my opinion,
taking a gap year has both advantages and disadvantages.
Taking a gap year has several benefits. Firstly, it can help them relax and
comfortable after long days of studying. They can go to travel around the
country and join in a lot of activities like taking lots of photos, sightseeing, and
so on. Therefore, they can widen their knowledge such as customs, traditions,
and cultures. Secondly, it can help them earn a lot of money. They can find a
part-time job related to their majors. Besides, they also have experience and
develop some life skills such as problem-solving skills, communication skills,
and team-working skills. It is very important to them in the future. Finally, it
can help them discover their passions. They can understand themselves after
they finish their part-time jobs and travel. Therefore, they can choose a suitable
major and have a good job in the future.
However, taking a gap year has a lot of drawbacks. Firstly, they can waste time.
They are lost a year traveling or working while other people like their friends
can study and finish early one year. Therefore, they can feel left out. Secondly,
they can waste money. They have to spend a lot of money on traveling. Other
services like hotels, resorts, restaurants, transport, and so on. Finally, they are
not excited about their study. They can forget the knowledge that they have
learned
In conclusion, taking a gap year has advantages and disadvantages. We should
spend a few months working or traveling. Then we prepare for college.
