Shoots of the nation, protectors of culture

Indonesia is a country rich in diversity. Starting from ethnicity, race, religion, to

culture. Culture in Indonesia is estimated to reach more than 1.239. This is natural because
Indonesia is a maritime archipelagic country whose number of islands reaches more than
17.000 islands, both small and large islands. However, even with a large nominal if the
culture is not preserved, it will become extinct.
In this modern era, culture in Indonesia seems to be eroding. Reporting from
republika.co.id there are 2 Indonesian cultures claimed by other countries, namely Reog
Ponorogo and Batik. This is due to the negligence of the local community in cultural
preservation.
Some of the factors causing the decline of Indonesian culture include the lack of
cultural recognition in the younger generation. They don't know the uniqueness of the culture,
so they think Indonesian culture is ancient, not cool, and so on.
This is also backgrounded by the rapid development of the times. Teenagers prefer to
use styles from abroad, because they think it is more modern in impression. And they forget
that their own culture can also be a trend that is no less competitive than outside culture.
There are several ways that students can do so that culture in Indonesia remains
sustainable. Among them are ; pay attention to the culture around it, then learn about it.
Using customary clothing at the time of certain events. Learn and apply the use of regional
languages. Held a cultural march. That's what students can do.
They need education and a deeper introduction to culture both in school and in
society. When in school, maybe the introduction of culture can be obtained from art and
culture lessons, and when in the community it may be from elders or families. For they are
the sprouts of this plural nation.
