B. GRAMMAR: Comparative of adjectives (Tính từ so sánh hơn)

Short adjectives and Long adjectives

Short adjectives (tính từ ngắn) Long adjectives (tính từ dài)

Tính từ ngắn là những tính từ gồm 1 âm Tính từ dài là những tính từ gồm từ 2 âm
tiết hoặc 2 âm tiết có kết thúc bằng “y” tiết trở lên
- nice - modern
- long - intelligent
- happy - expensive
Để chuyển sang dạng so sánh hơn ta thêm Để chuyển sang dạng so sánh hơn, ta thêm
“r/er” vào cuối tính từ ấy. “more” lên trước tính từ dài.
- nice nicer - intelligentmore intelligent
- long longer - expensive  more expensive
Nếu tận cùng của tính từ là “y” ta đổi - modern  more modern
“y”  “ier”
- dry -> drier
- happy happier
Với các tính từ 1 âm tiết kết thúc bằng
một nguyên âm + phụ âm đơn, ta gấp đôi
phụ âm cuối rồi + “er”
