Definition of Prepositions:

• A preposition is a word that shows the relationship


between a noun (or pronoun) and other words in a
sentence
Examples of Prepositions

• Common Prepositions:

• in, on, at, by, under, over, between, among,


through, beside, etc.
Types of Prepositions:

• 1- Time Prepositions: Prepositions indicating time relationships


(in, on, at). Examples: "I will meet you at the park."

• 2- Place Prepositions: Prepositions indicating location or


direction (in, on, at, under, over, between, among).Example: "The
book is on the shelf."
• 3- Direction Prepositions: Prepositions showing
movement (to, toward, through, across). Example: "She walked
toward the door."

• 4- Agent Prepositions: Prepositions indicating the doer of


an action (by). Example: "The letter was written by Sarah."

• 5- Manner Prepositions: Prepositions showing how an


action is performed (with, by). Example: "He painted the picture
with great care."
• 6- Prepositions of Possession: prepositions indicating
possession (of)Example: "The keys of the car are missing."
